”Common Origin’ is a valuable project, which has now resulted in the publication of the De.Co. (municipal designations) catalogue; for this, I would like to thank ANCI Lazio, as the very interplay of the two words – ‘origin’ and ‘municipal’ – testifies to its significance. These words immediately bring to mind the idea of a common point of origin, rooted in respect for and the protection of local produce, yet the products themselves are distinct, original and native to the territories of the various municipalities, which are so well represented in these pages. A journey along which we have the opportunity to encounter not only the products, but also the hands and stories of those who produce them, to discover when and where it is possible to taste, appreciate and enjoy them, and to understand the value they hold for local communities and their representatives. To safeguard the quality of our agri-food products and preserve the memory of the roots of our wonderful region, Lazio, and its priceless kaleidoscope of produce.
