'Origine Comune', a project that has been promoted by Anci Lazio for almost ten years, testifies to the importance of enhancing typical products as a pillar of our territory: the protection of their quality and origin. This project is aligned with regional planning that focuses on agricultural, environmental and development policies. Food has a profound meaning: it is comfort and security, it is narrative and memory. It constitutes a unique experiential value, with the capacity to transport us on a 'journey': it leads us into a history, that of our territories and its inhabitants. It is the engine that feeds life and the world. The hard work and commitment of the women and men who dedicate themselves to the production, transformation and processing of agri-food products are an integral part of this narrative. "The 'Origine Comune' project is a valuable tool, and the second edition of the De.Co. (communal denominations) directory offers a wonderful insight into the ability of our local communities to preserve values, culture, and traditions. I thank Anci Lazio for recognising its importance, which is already evident in the simple words 'origin' and 'municipality'. Words that immediately evoke the idea of a common starting point, marked by respect and protection of local production, but whose products are distinct, originated and generated in the different municipalities that are magnificently represented in these pages. A fascinating adventure awaits us, in which we will have the opportunity to meet not only the products, but also the people behind them. We will be able to discover when and where to taste, appreciate and consume them, as well as grasp the value they represent for local communities and those who represent them. Preserving the quality of our food and drink means protecting the memory of our roots, the precious heritage of our beloved land, Lazio, with its wealth of products that form a true kaleidoscope of flavours and traditions.

For years, Anci Lazio has been promoting the precious De.Co, the Denominazioni Comunali. Through 'Origine Comune', a highly successful project, the Association continues to collect and enhance the voices of the territory, giving lustre to traditional agri-food products. The idea of 'Origine Comune' originated in 2015 during the EXPO when Anci Lazio encouraged municipalities to present their agri-food products in that prestigious showcase. With this new edition, the De.Co agri-food basket is enriched with another 18 new products that together with the others contribute to representing a unique offer of delicacies from the territory of our region. From north to south, from east to west it is possible to get to know the delicacies of our land in detail: from the Rascino Lentil of Fiamigliano to that of Ventotene, from the Cerasa of Palombara Sabina to the Mosciarella of Capranica Prenestina, from the Tiella of Gaeta to the Gran Cacio of Morolo. But these are only a fraction of the products that have been awarded the De.Co. mark and make it possible to embark on an exciting journey among the cultural treasures - agricultural and craft - of our communities. For too long, these stories have risked being forgotten, or worse, supplanted by the large industrial agribusinesses. With Origine Comune, we want to celebrate the diversity and tradition that our local communities proudly carry on. The journey among the Municipal Denominations is only the beginning of an ongoing effort to preserve the authenticity of our products and pass on the rich knowledge of our communities. We are ready to do our part, joining forces to make these specialities a shared resource, enhancing the beauty and history that surrounds them. Thanks to the cooperation of many people, whom I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart, a path has been created to recognise and enhance local products as the heritage of communities and municipalities, and which highlights a remarkable cultural heritage of flavours and knowledge, which Anci Lazio intends to make visible through its project. First and foremost, I would like to thank the municipalities that participated, but I hope that in the next editions we can grow even further. Finally, my heartfelt thanks go to all the people who have worked with commitment, passion and love in this enterprise, which deserves to be recognised and handed down as part of History and Tradition.
